Bishop Shanahan National School

Letter from Principal to parents on 7/01/2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Sadly we are not getting the start to 2021 we had all hoped for. None the less I hope you had an enjoyable and healthy Christmas break.

We, in BSNS, remain enthusiastic about the new term and plan to channel that into support of the children.
Online teaching will resume. It will be simple in nature and delivered in bite size pieces so as not to overwhelm anybody.

it will take the form of short prerecorded videos with a teaching element in them focusing mainly on Literacy, Numeracy and Gaeilge. The only props the children will need will be a pencil and paper. We plan to arrange for the safe collection of books early next week. The videos can be shown at home at a time that is convenient for you. Your child’s teacher will make contact with you on/by Monday to establish or refresh the link to Seesaw.

The online application process for enrolment of children for the 2021/2022 school year began on Wednesday and is running smoothly. Supporting paperwork, where applicable, may be posted to the school. If you encounter any difficulties with the process Laura and I are happy to assist. Please email your queries to

Finally, a word to the wonderful children in BSNS.

Boys and girls, you are our strength. You show us how to be strong, positive and joyful. Our link with you over the next few weeks will be on a screen but, together, we will make the best of it. The BSNS family, you, the boys and girls, your parents, teachers and staff will find a way.

Kind regards

Ann Nolan
