We look forward to working with the whole school community in our attempt to achieve our fourth Green School flag. The theme is ‘Travel’ and we will be actively supporting sustainable transport modes to school over the coming months. It is time to get walking/cycling/scooting to school.
In BSNS, our Green School Committee is made up of children from the 1st and 2nd classes. We currently have 8 children on our committee. Each year the children from 2nd class are responsible for mentoring the children from 1st class when they join the committee. Committee members visit classes regularly and attend monthly meetings regarding green school matters with the Green School co-ordinator, Ms. Dillon.

Latest news on our travel theme…
Katherine Coburn, Travel Education Officer from South Dublin County Council, visited the school on 20th November. Katherine visited the children in 1st and 2nd classes and spoke to the children about the Travel Theme. She also carried out a travel survey, which we will use to help us with our environmental review of sustainable modes of transport in our school.
Katherine will visit the school again on 9th December to carry out a walkability audit with the green school committee with a view to introducing 'park and stride'.
Have you got a suggestion?
We would love to hear any ideas or suggestions about sustainable travel to and from school that you may have. Please post them in our suggestion box on the Green Schools Notice Board in the school hall.
