National Scoot to School Week 2015

National Scoot to School Week 2015

National Scoot to School Week 2015 takes place from Monday, March 9th to Friday, March 13th.

Scooting is a great way to get to school quickly, safely and easily for children of all ages.

This is the first week-long scooting to school event EVER and we're looking forward to seeing more students jump on their scooters than ever before!

National SOW Day

Students, parents and teachers are encouraged to join with schools across Ireland on National SOW Day - Wednesday March 11th - and scoot to school. Last year there was over 6,000 students grabbing their scooters for the commute to school - will you help to beat that figure this year?

This is the second year of National SOW Day, which is one of the newest sustainable travel initiatives from the An Taisce Green-Schools Travel programme, which aims to encourage children and their families to travel to school via sustainable and active modes of transport.

Facts about Scooting

  • develops road safety skills
  • establishes positive active travel behaviours
  • promotes independence
  • reduces environmental impact of the journey to school.

Share your scooting adventures!

Send photos of scooting to school to elaine.dillon@bishopshanahan.ie and we will post them on the school website.
